After years of neglect and growing frustration, residents along the Sampa-Jinijini stretch in the Bono Region can finally expect relief, as the government confirms that construction of the long-awaited road will begin by June 2025.
Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, made the announcement during the confirmation ceremonies for Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) for Jaman North and South.
He assured the people that work on the deteriorated road would commence no later than June this year.
This announcement follows years of appeals from residents, transport operators, and business owners who have long decried the poor condition of the road.
Many believe the dilapidated state of the route has hindered economic activity, limited access to essential services, and made transportation both costly and dangerous.
Adding his voice, the newly confirmed District Chief Executive for Jaman North, George Adane, emphasized the need for the road to be fully asphalted rather than just patched.
He highlighted the road’s significance in promoting trade, improving travel, and enhancing living conditions across the district.
“The state of the road is a development barrier,” he noted. “A proper upgrade will unlock economic opportunities and better livelihoods.”
For the communities of Sampa, Jinijini, and surrounding areas, the commencement of construction is eagerly awaited. Residents remain cautiously optimistic, hoping that the government will finally deliver on its promise and bring lasting improvements to the region.
