National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given an interesting interpretation to the position of New Patriotic Party(NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s position on the presidential ballot paper.
The Electoral Commission(EC) on Friday conducted the balloting exercise for the 13 presidential candidates cleared to contest the December 7 election.
The NPP picked the number one slot while its main contender, the NDC picked number 8.
To the NPP, the top position makes breaking the 8 agenda possible.
But on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Sammy Gyamfi stated that, the number one position signifies the NPP’s goodbye to Ghanaians on December 7.
According to him, the NPP in 2008 with Akufo-Addo as its presidential candidate picked number one but lost the election to the NDC.
This history to him is about to repeat itself and urged the NPP to brace itself.
He emphasised that there is a divine reason why the NPP picked number one, their breaking the 8 slogan has now become abominable among the party’s rank and file.
“Breaking the 8 is now abominable for the NPP. Nobody is talking about it again. Their posters, t-shirts and all banners with 8 on it are now been hidden.
“They picked in 2008 and it led to their defeat. It is the same thing that will happen no. The NPP’s cup is full and they are under judgment; They won’t even get spoilt ballot,” he declared.
He added, “I would have been pained if they picked number 7 because people would have mistakenly voted for them. So Ghanaians should look out for the umbrella logo and vote for the desired change.”
