The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party Sammi Awuku has condemned the attitude of some serial callers in the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Awuku explains that in as much as they have their grievances, their approach was bad and must be condemned.
Speaking on Okay FM, he explained that the party has structures and that they could have channeled their grievances through those structures.
“I know the good works of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah and they could have reasoned with him on their issues,” he said.
Mr. Awuku described that, though the party will support them for their various contributions to the development of the party, they should not make it look as if the party owes them.
“Every government has a responsibility to honour their campaign promises and make the economy good and viable for businesses to thrive, and that is what the NPP government is committed to.
“We will not be distracted by some of these bottlenecks within the party,” he said.Nonetheless, I have dispatched the National Youth Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye a.ka. Nana Bee to meet with them to have their issues addressed amicably.
In a rare protest against the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), members of a group calling itself Volunteer Media Communicators for NPP set their mobile phones ablaze in Kumasi.
The move, according to the serial pro-NPP callers, was to get party leadership to reward them for their loyalty.
The communicators, drawn from various constituencies in the Ashanti Region, converged at the Abbey’s Park clad in party colours and red armbands.
In all about 100 mobile phones were set on fire.
They hope the action will send home their dissatisfaction with the poor treatment they receive from party leadership in the Ashanti Region.
Executive Member for the group, Abel Anokye, said party leaders have refused to find them jobs after the party assumed affairs of state.
“We spend a lot of money on phone calls, just to defend the party. After we came to power we are yet to benefit from the party. They say we have been given MASLOC vehicles but it is not true. It was auctioned and we paid realistic prices for those vehicles without engines,” he said.
“Party leadership especially, the Vice Chair called us useless. The Regional Minister has refused to help us. We want the President to take them from this Region as we cannot stay with them,” he added
