Former Asante Kotoko Board Member, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, has passed away.
Ponko, who had been battling a prolonged illness, died on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
A respected figure in both the sports world and Ghanaian politics, Ponko was an influential member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In addition to his contributions to Asante Kotoko, he also served as the Chief Executive of the Ejisu/Juaben Municipal Assembly, where he made significant strides in local governance and development.
Ponko’s leadership and commitment earned him admiration across different sectors. His death is a great loss to both the football community and the political sphere in Ghana.
He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to public service and the advancement of sports throughout his career.
