Robbers snatch Mercedes Benz at Adenta

Twenty-nine suspects including two ladies have been held in a targeted police swoop at a well-known drinking spot behind the Ashaiman District Police Headquarters in the Greater Accra Region.
The popular spot in Ashaiman, according to police intelligence, was a notorious hideout for various immoral activities such as the sale and use of narcotics and prostitution.
The operation, which started at 11: 00 am, was part of efforts by the Tema Regional Police Command to rid every hideout in Ashaiman of criminals.
Items retrieved from the suspects included, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, Tramadol tablets, packets of Cigarettes illegally imported from Nigeria, assorted mobile phones, a laptop, among others.

Speaking with the DAILY GUIDE at the Tema Regional Police Headquarters, the Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nana Asomah Hinneh, expressed his readiness to clamp down on criminals and their slums in the area.
“I will make the region unsafe for them to stay since they’ve decided not to stop their criminal activities. I will also not sleep for them to sleep,” he averred.
According to him, the exercise was executed as a result of the numerous complaints received from residents of the area.
Police personnel including three senior officers, were involved in the operation, he said adding that police had interrogated the suspects and had taken their statements.
He appealed to residents to give police information to help rid the region of criminals.
The Regional Commander admonished the public, especially the youth, to desist from the use and abuse of illicit drugs such as Cannabis, Tramadol, heroin, cocaine, etc. since they are against the laws of the state and can be harmful to their health.
Meanwhile, the suspected dried leaves have been forwarded to the police forensic laboratory for examination and the suspects are assisting the police in their investigations.
