The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Kwame Agbodza, has unveiled plans for an ambitious road infrastructure project, the Tamale Outer Ring Road, which aims to enhance economic activities and improve vehicular movement in the Tamale metropolis.

Speaking during a courtesy call at the Gbewa Palace on Monday, 14 April, to meet with the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, Mr Agbodza shared that President John Mahama is seriously considering the project as part of his broader plan to develop lasting and improved road networks across the country.

The Minister, accompanied by a team of engineers, was on an inspection tour to gather firsthand information on selected priority road projects to guide strategic decision-making.

Among the sites visited were the Daka Bridge at Yendi, the Tamale-Yendi-Tatale road, and the construction of a 60-meter span Bailey Bridge at Wapuli along the Saboba road corridor.

The Yaa Naa praised the government’s renewed focus on infrastructure, particularly through the “Big Push” initiative, and called for collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the effective and timely delivery of high-quality road projects.

As a gesture of goodwill, Mr Agbodza made a personal donation of 500 bags of cement towards the construction of the new Gbewa Palace, further strengthening ties between the Ministry and the traditional authorities.
