The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has outlined plans to prioritize road maintenance and improvements across Ghana in 2025.
Speaking during a tour of agencies under his ministry on Monday, Mr. Agbodza emphasized the urgent need to enhance the country’s road network to support economic growth and improve citizens’ quality of life.
He highlighted the importance of sustainability and cost-effectiveness in road projects, adding that his team will seek professional input to determine whether incomplete projects should remain active or be put on hold until sufficient funding is secured.
Mr. Agbodza, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, expressed his commitment to advocating for the removal of the cap on the Roads Fund.
He argued that the current restrictions hinder the road sector’s development and prevent adequate financing of key projects.
The Minister pledged to work collaboratively with staff, contractors, and stakeholders to address challenges in the sector, stating that finding practical solutions is his primary responsibility.
“Our roads are critical to Ghana’s development, and we must ensure that all projects deliver value for money and meet the needs of our people,” he affirmed.
