Below is the full statement
You will recall that Center for Transport Security Dialogue (CETSED) on the 21st June issued a press release with the heading “WHO OWNS THE CONCEPT; TOW LEVY”. The release sought to find out who indeed owns the road tow levy concept and to elevate the public discourse beyond the mandatory fee and look more into how transparent the processes leading to the award of the contract was.
Our checks so far has revealed that, a director at the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) is under interrogation at the police headquarters in connection with the mandatory tow levy concept. CETSED can confirm that the said director is currently under police investigations.
CETSED believes that, the police has an important role to play, investigating thoroughly to ensure this whole Brouhaha comes to a finality, as the transport ministry makes wider consultation on its implementation for the nation to have a safer, secured and transparent transport system.
CETSED, aiming at advocating for a more safer, secured and transparent transport system, would do its bid to ensure that, the developmental agenda of our transport sub sector is realized.
