Ritual killing hits Esiama

-

There is fear and panic among residents of Esiama, a commercial town in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region following an alleged ritual murder of a woman last Sunday.

The body of the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, was found on Sunday morning without the head and some body parts in a bush along the Esiama-Nkroful Road.

Some of the residents have asserted that the unidentified young lady might have been sexually assaulted before being killed by the assailants.

“The fact that the head and some parts of the road were severed indicates that she was killed for ritual purposes,” the residents declared.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Axim Government Hospital morgue.

According to sources, the situation has caused fear and panic among the residents, particularly non-indigenes, who live and work in the town.

The residents have therefore appealed to the police to conduct thorough investigations and bring to book the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

“We think that killing of a human being in such a manner is quite serious and calls for urgent investigations in this area,” they told the paper.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the Esiama Police are working fervently to arrest the killers.

The Esiama District Police Commander, Supt Stellar Sedemeh, who confirmed the incident to journalists in an interview, indicated that on Sunday two persons reported the matter to the police.

Supt Sedemeh disclosed that the two persons claimed they saw an unusual object in the bush some few metres to their farm, adding that when they got closer, they realized that it was the corpse of a young woman.

“We quickly rushed to the scene and found the body which was later conveyed to the morgue, the police officer added.
