Rihanna is feeling “thankful” after A$AP Rocky was found not guilty in his felony assault trial.
The 36-year-old singer, who has been in a relationship with A$AP Rocky since 2020, shared her relief on Instagram after his acquittal on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
“The Glory belongs to God and God alone. Thankful, humbled by his mercy,” she wrote.
A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was accused of shooting his former friend Terrell Ephron during an altercation near a hotel nearly four years ago. However, he denied the charges throughout the trial.
The rapper faced up to 24 years in prison, but a 12-person jury found him not guilty after nearly a month-long trial.
Following the verdict, Mayers expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank God for saving my life. This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years. I’m thankful and blessed to be a free man talking to y’all.”
Rihanna, who shares two children—RZA, 2, and Riot, 18 months—with A$AP Rocky, was seated behind him as the verdict was read.
The trial saw Ephron allege that A$AP Rocky had opened fire on him, grazing his knuckles. However, Mayers’ defense argued that the firearm was a harmless prop gun. While surveillance footage captured part of the altercation, no video evidence showed the alleged shooting.
Judge Mark Arnold dismissed the case, telling the rapper, “Mr. Mayers, you’re excused!”
Before the trial, A$AP Rocky had rejected a plea deal that would have required him to serve six months in jail.
