Presidential Staffer for the BlackStar Experience, Rex Omar, has paid a courtesy call on Alex Asafo-Agyei, the Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, to discuss the allocation of scholarship quotas for creatives in the country.
During their meeting, Rex Omar emphasized the need for increased support for Ghanaian creatives and highlighted the importance of providing educational opportunities that will help develop the industry.
He stressed the necessity of formal support structures to nurture artistic talents and equip creatives with essential skills to thrive in their careers.
Dr. Asafo Agyei, on his part, reaffirmed the Secretariat’s commitment to ensuring that deserving students, including those in the creative arts industry, benefit from scholarship programs.
He stated that the government recognizes the contributions of the creative sector to Ghana’s cultural and economic landscape and will work towards allocating resources to support individuals pursuing careers in various creative fields.
The scholarship program aims to provide financial aid to artists, musicians, writers, sound engineers, production experts, and other creative professionals to help bridge gaps in industry training and development.

Mr. Omar emphasized that equipping Ghanaian creatives with relevant skills will not only empower individuals but also contribute significantly to national development. He underscored the importance of a sustainable support system for the creative industry, which plays a crucial role in job creation and economic growth.
As the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat gears up to roll out these scholarship allocations, it is expected that more creatives will have access to education and training opportunities, fostering a robust creative industry that can compete globally.
