Revealed: Why Songne Yacouba was dropped by Kotoko ahead of Hearts clash

Asante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu, has explained why he dropped livewire, Songne Yacouba ahead of their crucial clash with Hearts of Oak.

Before the match on Sunday, adomonline.com exclusively reported that the 28-year-old could be left out of the squad for the clash due to contractual issues.

Our publication has since been confirmed as coach of the side, Maxwell Konadu, speaking to Asempa FM Monday morning said he had to drop the Burkinabe because he didn’t find him settled enough for the game.

“He [Songne Yacouba] was dropped because we had issues to settle with the player.

“We left him because he wasn’t mentally focused.

“At the moment, we have to settle issues with him and his agent back at home before we can see him back.

On Yacouba absence, Coach Konadu insisted, won’t affect his team. “Not really, because other players gave their all.

Yacouba has refused to extend his stay with the Kumasi-based club after several talks over a new deal.

His current contract with the club will expire in April but has informed the hierarchy of the club he will only extend his stay if only the club cough $150,000 for his services.
