REVEALED: 'Kwesi Nyantayi will seek re-election'

-

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) seems to have taken a u-turn on his decision not to contest the presidency of the football body.
According to a partisan of Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, he will seek re-election when his tenure expires in 2019.
“I can confirm to you that Nyantakyi has rescinded his decision and will contest for the seat come 2019”, Aziz Haruna Futah who is also a former management member of Hearts of Oak disclosed this on Asempa FM’s Ultimate sports show Friday.
Kwesi Nyantakyi has been in charge of the country’s football affairs since 2005, serving three terms. At the last election, he stood unopposed and it appears he has no competitor to topple him.
But most Ghanaians are not enthused with him and calls for Nyantakyi to step down intensified following Black Stars failed attempt at the 2017 Africa cup of Nations and his election to the FIFA executive council.
Based on this seeming pressure, the GFA boss announced he will not seek re-elections. Mr. Nyantakyi believes he has paid his dues and will not resurface on the local football scene again.
But Aziz Haruna Futah who described himself as a confidant of the GFA boss said he[Nyantakyi] contest for the position for the fourth time.
In his view, there is no “other credible candidate to continue to goods works of Nyantakyi”.
“The President of the Football Association upon several deliberations and consultations has decided to seek re-election” Aziz stressed.
