Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide has revealed that his outfit spent over GHC 100,000 to rename the Tamale Sports Stadium after late Vice President Aliu Mahama.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s sports night leaks, Sports Page 2, he revealed that the lump sum for the ceremony included the organisation of keep fit sessions and ceremonial football match between the Southern and Northern select sides of which the former won by 2-1 to lift the trophy.
“Late Aliu Mahama paid his due to the development of Sports and even and also contributed in the construction of the former Tamale Sports Stadium, now Aliu Mahama Stadium.
“The Organizational cost, the Trophy, beyond the trophy GHC50, 000 was at stake as the cash prize but we were very modest in our expenditure,” he said.
