Residents of Bortiribor, a farming community in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, have threatened to boycott the December general elections if their electricity and road issues are not addressed
Adom News’ Obrempongba Owusu who visited the area report that, though they have electricity poles in the area, they are yet to be connected to the national grid.
The roads in the area are also in a terrible state as it is filled with potholes and is virtually impassable.
In an interview, residents expressed their discontent, stating that the lack of electricity has severely impacted their daily lives, from hindering business operations to affecting children’s education.
They said they are tired of empty promises noting that, if their demands are not met before the December polls, they would boycott the elections.
However, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station chairman, Tiba Sampson, acknowledged that the residents of Bortiribor have been neglected for far too long.
He said it is time for the government to fulfill its promises to improve living conditions in the area.
Mr. Tiba urged the government to take immediate action to fix the road and connect the community to the national grid to win more votes for the NPP parliamentary candidate, Hajia Sherifa Sekyere Tijani.
