The situation is particularly harsh for schoolchildren, who struggle to study in the dark due to the lack of proper lighting.
The absence of electricity has not only stalled economic development but also poses serious safety risks.
Candles and lanterns are the main sources of light in these eight communities, severely limiting businesses that depend on power and worsening economic hardships.
Frustrated residents have voiced concerns about increased vulnerability to crime.
Although some communities are already wired for electricity, they remain unconnected to the national grid, creating a stark contrast with nearby areas that have access to power.
Speaking to Channel One News, Assembly members described the situation as alarming, noting the unfulfilled promises from the government.
Member of Parliament for Agona East, Queenstar Mame Pokuah Sawyerr, has also accused the current administration of undermining her efforts to connect these communities to the grid.
Despite successfully connecting 48 other communities, she expressed disappointment that her pleas to the Ministry of Energy have not produced results.
