The overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has advised government appointees from his jurisdiction to remain loyal and uphold the trust President John Dramani Mahama has placed in them.
He emphasized that the President needs their commitment to execute his mandate effectively, urging them to distinguish themselves through their contributions.
“I know you are all qualified and loyal. That’s why the President builds his trust and selects you among the lot. So, don’t betray him [President Mahama], but let your input justify that trust,” he stated.
Yagbonwura made these remarks when the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, officially informed him of his new role at his palace in Damongo, Savannah Region.

According to the traditional leader, appointees must support the President in fulfilling his promises to Ghanaians.
On behalf of his colleagues, Sulemana expressed gratitude for Yagbonwura’s role in Mahama’s victory and assured him of their commitment to serve.

“We want to tell him [Yagbonwura] that those of us who have been appointed by the President will not disappoint the good people of the Savannah Region,” he pledged.

So far, about six individuals from the region have been appointed to key government positions, including:
- John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister of Energy and Green Transition
- Yusif Sulemana – Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources
- Salisu Be-Awuribe – Savannah Regional Minister
- Adam Mutawakilu – Managing Director, Ghana Water Company Limited
