The Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) has denied claims circulating on social media that its Registrar, Dr. Michael Kyereamaten, has been suspended.
The Council condemned these allegations, stating that they encourage practitioners to boycott its activities.
The TMPC clarified that, any appointment or revocation of the Registrar’s position is the prerogative of the President, in accordance with Section 29 (1) of the Traditional Medicine Practice Act 2000 (Act 575).
It emphasized that such decisions would be formally communicated.
The Council further warned practitioners against failing to comply with directives or with the Compliance and Enforcement Inspectorate, as this constitutes a breach of Section 27 of the Act, which is punishable by law.
In the statement, the TMPC urged stakeholders to disregard the false information, attributing it to disgruntled individuals seeking to tarnish the Registrar’s reputation.
The Ministry of Health has been informed and is addressing any grievances raised by these individuals.
The TMPC assured the public of its commitment to professionalism and encouraged cooperation from all practitioners in the Traditional and Alternative Medicine Practice industry.
