The Concerned Referees and Match Commissioners of Ghana (CRAMCOG) have officially informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of their decision to withdraw from officiating the remainder of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season.
In a letter dated April 27, 2025, CRAMCOG expressed significant dissatisfaction over the persistent delays in the payment of their allowances. They argue that this ongoing issue reflects broader neglect of the welfare of match officials and poses a serious threat to the integrity of Ghanaian football.
The group highlighted the importance of maintaining the dignity and respect of referees and commissioners, noting that these elements are essential for preserving the credibility of the sport. They also warned that continued financial neglect could leave officials vulnerable to external pressures, compromising the fairness of league competitions.
“An empty sack cannot stand upright,” CRAMCOG stated, underscoring the serious challenges faced by referees and commissioners who are working without compensation.
The GFA is now under increasing pressure to address the issue swiftly and effectively, as the future of the domestic league is at stake. Ensuring fairness, respect, and integrity is key to maintaining the competition’s credibility.
