Former Adentan Constituency Member of Parliament, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has called on Ghanaians who are considering not participating in the December 2024 elections to reconsider their stance.
He acknowledged that many are dissatisfied with the current economic situation under the ruling government, which might lead them to question the importance of voting on December 7.
However, he urged citizens to go to the polling stations and make their voices heard through their votes.
“I encourage Ghanaians to participate in the elections. We should vote for the type of change we desire. Ghanaians have the right to elect a leader who advocates for the changes they seek,” he said on Angel FM.
Buaben Asamoa said the importance of voting for a leader who can bring about transformative change, specifically endorsing Alan Kyerematen, the flagbearer of the Movement for Change.
He noted that, despite the comprehensive manifestos presented by the two major political parties since 1992, true change has yet to be realized.
“With the innovative transitional plan proposed by Alan Kyerematen, the country can finally achieve the change we’ve all been yearning for,” he said. He highlighted the potential of Kyerematen’s proposed enterprise economy, which aims to reduce interest rates and encourage private sector growth.
Buaben Asamoa explained that, state enterprises would be listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange, allowing workers to purchase shares.
He cited an example where government-owned hostels, intended for sale, could be transitioned into worker ownership schemes.
This approach, he argued, would not only support private businesses but also help reduce interest rates.
Through these initiatives, Mr. Boaben Asamoa believes citizens will experience increased profits, leading to higher revenue generation for the government and less reliance on borrowing to pay off debts.
