The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser has appealed to the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, Oboafo Kwadwo Asante, to reconsider his decision to go independent.
In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Henry Nana Boakye said he is pained and would wish it didn’t happen.
Oboafo Asante’s move follows his defeat in the NPP parliamentary primary on January 28, 2024.
The incumbent, who was seeking a second term in office, lost the bid to Frank Aseidu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, who garnered 496 votes against his 320.
But Nana B as he is popularly called said Mr Asante should remember he defeated former MP, Frederick Opare Ansah to assume the seat and should know that is how the game of politics it
According to him, the NPP is committed to engage the MP to resolve all issues and get him to rescind his decision.
Meanwhile, Mr Asante has said he has unfinished business with Suhum constituents, hence the decision to go independent is to help him complete developmental projects and fulfill promises made to the people.
