Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, Minister of Health, has pledged to establish several funds in the Ledzokuku Constituency to provide financial relief for constituents if elected as their Member of Parliament.
The proposed initiatives include a Traders’ Fund and a Welfare Fund, each with seed capital of GH₵2 million, and a Tertiary Education Fund.
Additionally, a separate fund with GH₵1 million, donated by First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, will be reserved for party loyalists in need of financial assistance.
Dr. Okoe-Boye announced these plans during the First Lady’s visit to the constituency, where she engaged market women, traders, and artisans, expressing gratitude for their continued support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mrs. Akufo-Addo also used the occasion to urge constituents to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP Flagbearer, and Dr. Okoe-Boye, the parliamentary candidate, in the December 7 elections.
Explaining the proposed funds, Dr. Okoe-Boye stated that the Education Fund would support senior high school graduates from the constituency who gain admission into tertiary institutions or pursue vocational or technical training.
The Traders’ Fund will provide financial aid to market women to expand their businesses, regardless of political affiliation, as long as they reside in the constituency.
He added that the Welfare Fund will offer soft loans to constituents in need of short-term financial assistance, while the GH₵1 million fund from the First Lady will be dedicated exclusively to supporting NPP members requiring financial help.
Dr. Okoe-Boye emphasized the significant benefits women would receive if the NPP remains in power, citing planned social intervention programs.
He also announced plans to establish the country’s first food bank in Teshie to provide food rations every 60 days to the elderly, single mothers, and widows.
Mrs. Akufo-Addo commended Ledzokuku residents for their unwavering support for the NPP over the years and appealed for a resounding victory for both Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Okoe-Boye in the upcoming elections.
She described Dr. Okoe-Boye as a “solid man” with a proven track record and urged the constituents not to let him down.
“As fellow Gas, I want you to look at me and vote massively for Dr. Okoe-Boye so that he can continue the work he started as MP previously,” she added.
