Eric Nipah, Receiver of Savings and Loans entities, which licences have been revoked, has allayed the fears of customers, saying the government has made funds available to pay them their deposits.
He has disclosed that his outfit was making available claims forms for customers to fill and present for claims by September 12, 2019, for this purpose.

“Customers have to provide basic personal and contact info and indicate the amount owed,” he explained.
“Upon validation of depositors’ claims, they will be contacted and their monies will be paid; the government has made available funds for this purpose,” Mr Nipah explained further.
According to him, he has an obligation to secure the assets, books and records of these institutions and pay validated claims to depositors and creditors in the hierarchy provided for by law.

Speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s SMS show, Mr Nipah disclosed that he was working with some partners to ensure the deposits of customers of the affected institutions were retrieved.
“I have representatives across the country who moved over and took control of these institutions. We had to take control by securing them: that is by locking them with our own locks,” he said.

Mr Nipah also added that the cooperation of staff from the affected institutions will greatly enhance the work of the receiver and its partners.
“We, initially, will need the help of the staff of these companies and we will enlist them as consultants to direct us when it comes to the review of the documents,” he explained.
