The Minister-nominee for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, has reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to ensure that workers’ productivity aligns with their earnings.
Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, 2025, Dr. Pelpuo outlined his vision for addressing employment challenges and improving workforce efficiency in Ghana.
When questioned on his approach to aligning worker output with earnings, Dr. Pelpuo acknowledged the complexity of the issue, highlighting the need for collaboration with various stakeholders.
He pledged to work closely with the FWSC, stressing the constitutional importance of equitable compensation.
Addressing gender representation, Dr. Pelpuo emphasized the need for promoting gender balance and equal opportunities across the workforce.
Regarding salary adjustments for public sector workers, Dr. Pelpuo confirmed that the government is considering the issue.
He assured the committee that once in office, he would prioritize efforts to improve salaries.
