Raid in Ofori-Atta’s home was staged – OSP reveals

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has denied any involvement in the raid at the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has said the incident was staged by Mr. Ofori-Atta himself in an attempt to mislead the public.

He insisted it was an imposter action to discredit the office.

Mr. Agyebeng said this at a press conference on Wednesday, where he, among other things, declared Mr. Ofori-Atta wanted for multiple corruption cases.

“Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not raid your house on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, or on any other day. Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not cause any person, however uniformed, to raid your house on February 11, 2025, or on any other day.

That could not have been the OSP, and that is not our style. If the OSP enters your premises, you will not be in doubt as to where the OSP had come from, and your lawyers will not have cause to inquire as to whether it was the OSP,” Mr. Agyebeng stated.

He emphasized that the OSP follows strict procedures when conducting searches, ensuring their presence is unmistakable.

“We have our unique methods of searches that…”

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Cantonments.

Reports indicate that Mr. Ofori-Atta is currently in the United States for medical attention. However, his wife and other relatives were present at the time of the raid.

Eyewitnesses claim the group consisted of about 12 individuals—five in military uniforms, one in a police uniform, and the rest in plain clothes.

However, Mr. Agyebeng has refuted claims about his absence, insisting that he cooperates with the investigation.

“God forbid, I don’t have issues with anybody. This is nothing personal. I did not assume this office or swear an oath to defend the constitution to pursue a personal vendetta,” he stated.
