The Queen Mother of Bechem in the Ahafo Region, Nana Adwoa Dwamena Serwaa, has made a passionate appeal to the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, to prioritize the renovation of the Bechem Government Hospital, which is in a deplorable state.
During a courtesy visit by the Regional Minister, Nana Adwoa Dwamena Serwaa expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of the facility, which she noted has not seen any major renovation since its establishment by her ancestors.
She emphasized that the hospital, which serves patients from the Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, and Ashanti Regions, is in a terrible state, making it unfit for quality healthcare delivery.
According to her, despite the hospital’s critical role in providing medical services to surrounding communities, it has been neglected by successive governments, leading to severe infrastructural decline.
She urged the Regional Minister to push for immediate action by engaging the President and the Health Minister to secure a facelift for the facility.
In response, the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, acknowledged the concerns and assured the Queen Mother and the people of Bechem that she has been briefed on the poor state of the hospital.
She pledged to do everything within her capacity to ensure that the necessary renovations are carried out to improve healthcare delivery in the region.
