Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has emphasized the importance of securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The Black Stars boosted their qualification hopes with crucial back-to-back victories over Chad and Madagascar in their Matchday 5 and 6 encounters.
These wins have propelled Ghana to the top of their qualifying group, three points ahead of second-placed Comoros, with four games remaining.
Speaking to SuperSport, the AFC Bournemouth striker expressed his determination to see Ghana return to football’s biggest stage.
“Hopefully, by September, we can win one game and qualify for the World Cup. Then in 2026, we can show the world what a team we are and put ourselves on the map again because that’s where we deserve to be,” Semenyo said.
“We have one of the best teams in Africa, so I don’t understand why people doubt us. We just need to prove ourselves on the big stage, and the World Cup would be the perfect opportunity.”
The Black Stars will continue their qualification campaign with crucial fixtures against Chad and Mali in Matchday 7 and 8.
