The Chairman of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Kwahu West Municipality, Joseph Abankwah, has appealed to the government to increase the five percent allocation of the Common Fund designated for PWDs.
He emphasized that a larger share would enable regular and adequate support for members, helping to improve their livelihoods.
Currently, 46 PWDs in Kwahu West have received assistance from the government through the fund.
However, Mr. Abankwah noted that the limited allocation makes it challenging to meet the growing needs of members promptly.
“Our membership keeps increasing, but the funds remain insufficient, leading to delays in support for those in need,” he explained.
In response to the concerns, the Member of Parliament for the Nkawkaw Constituency, Joseph Frempong, announced plans to provide farming inputs to PWDs interested in agriculture.
This initiative aims to empower members to engage in large-scale farming as a sustainable means of improving their livelihoods.
The call for an increase in the Common Fund highlights the need for a more inclusive approach to addressing the challenges faced by PWDs in the municipality.
