Put former footballers in charge of national teams – Augustine Arhinful

-

Former Ghana striker, Augustine Arhinful has implored the Ghana Football Association to train former footballers to develop the various national teams.

The Black Stars, Black Satellites, Black Meteors, Black Starlets, Black Stars ‘B’, Black Queens, Black Maidens are currently with no coaches.

The country’s football governing on Thursday, January 4 announced the dissolution of the technical teams of the various national teams with the defense that the various national team have not been competitive enough.

However, the former Ashgold and Borussia Dortmund ace believe that in developing the various national teams, the Ghana Football Association must consider training former footballers to take charge of the national teams.

“The FA has taken a decision but we hope it is in the right direction,” he told Asempa FM.

“When is the hiring of expatriate coaches end? For me, the Ghana Football Association should train former footballers to take charge of the national team.

“Imagine me being the Black Stars head coach. No player can disrespect me because the players need to know their standard.

“We have the likes of Michael Essien, Laryea Kingston, Sammy Kuffour, among other former players. The question is, what are these players doing to help in the development of our national teams?

“It is true that some former players might not have the Pro-License certificate but in developing our national teams, the Ghana Football Association must help some of the former players to get it.

“Laryea Kingston has won U-17 tournament with FC Nordsjælland in Japan so what shows that he will not deliver when given the opportunity at the national team level?

“The FA must take a critical look at some of the decisions and for me, helping the former players to get the required certificate will help in the development of our national teams.
