The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 12,452 candidates who sat for the 2025 First Series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates.
The candidates comprised 5,269 males and 7,998 females, while 738 registered candidates were absent.
In a statement issued on March 28, WAEC disclosed that cases of malpractice were detected during the examination and subsequent marking process. As a result, the subject results of 34 candidates have been withheld, while the entire results of 43 candidates are also on hold, pending the completion of investigations.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the integrity of its examinations and assured that investigations would be concluded swiftly.
WAEC emphasized that the withheld results would only be released after all inquiries are finalized.
Candidates, educational institutions, and other stakeholders have been urged to remain patient as the investigations progress, with further updates to be provided when necessary.
