The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku- Agyemang, has noted that many fishermen suffer to get outboard motors and premix fuel.

She said fish has no political colour, thus it is disheartening that the government is politicising the fishing industry and denying fisherfolks their livelihood.

Addressing NDC supporters at Funko, a fishing community in the Ahanta West constituency as part of her three-day campaign tour of the Western Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said that fisherfolks cannot continue to suffer the mess.

She therefore urged them to vote for change by voting out the government.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the NDC has a track record of improving the fishing industry through the provision of outboard motors and premix fuel.

She assured that, the next NDC government will subsidize the price of outboard motors and make premix fuel available to all fishing communities.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that, the plans of the NDC for a boom in the fishing industry for local fishermen can only come to fruition when the party is voted into government.

She therefore urged the electorates to vote for the NDC flagbearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

For his part, the chief fisherman at Funko, Nana Yalley, was hopeful that the NDC will win the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections to implement its policies and improve the quality of life of fisher folks.
