Asempa FM sports journalist ‘Prof’ E. K. Wallace has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to provide the official letter from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that details the ban on Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium.

The Senior sport journalist’s challenge comes in response to the ongoing controversy surrounding the stadium’s suitability for hosting matches.

According to reports, CAF has imposed a ban on the Baba Yara Stadium, Ghana’s only venue certified for CAF and FIFA matches, due to several issues identified during an inspection.

The concerns raised include an uneven playing surface, inadequate drainage, and poor grass cover. Consequently, CAF has instructed Ghana to select an alternative venue for its 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

On his SportsNite show on Asempa FM, Wallace emphasized the need for transparency and accountability.

He further urged the GFA to release the official CAF correspondence to clarify the grounds for the ban and to dispel any speculation or confusion.

Additionally, Wallace believes that providing the letter will not only shed light on the situation but also help address public concerns about the GFA’s handling of the matter.

The GFA has yet to respond to Wallace’s challenge, and the situation has sparked a debate among football fans and analysts alike.
