Prince William has spoken of his “concern” for this father Charles following his coronavirus diagnosis.
Last month, Charles, 71, contracted the virus – with Clarence House saying he had been “displaying mild symptoms” and was “self-isolating at home in Scotland”.
Now, Prince William has said he was “quite concerned” for his father, but felt sure he was capable of winning the battle.
Speaking to BBC Breakfast via video link the Duke said: “At first I was quite concerned – he fits the profile of somebody, at the age he is, who is fairly risky.
“I was a little bit worried, but I thought if anybody is going to beat this, it’s going to be him.”
William, speaking alongside Kate, also spoke about the importance of looking after our mental health during lockdown – and offered advice on how to deal with grief.
He said: “People are going to feel angry, they are going to feel confused, they are going to feel scared – all normal feelings and that is unfortunately all part of the grieving process.
“But don’t underestimate again the importance of reaching out, the importance of looking to your family and friends.”
The couple have been speaking to NHS workers across the country via video-link in recent weeks.
During this morning’s chat, the Duchess said coronavirus is going to “dramatically change” how much Britain values its NHS staff.
She said extra recognition for the hardworking lifesavers at the forefront of the crisis is the “one of the main positives that you can take from this”.
Kate also spoke about home schooling her three children – saying she felt “guilty” about continuing their lessons through the Easter holidays.
She added: “”Don’t tell the children, we’ve actually kept it going through the holidays. I feel very mean.”
The duke described homeschooling as “fun” – and his wife added it was “challenging”
The Cambridges have been isolating with children Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte.
