Rev. Fr. Peter Kusi Twumasi, the Acting Rector of St. Stephen Rectorate in Bodomase, has issued a heartfelt apology after a video of him singing the secular song “Aseda” by King Paluta in church went viral.

The video, which has garnered widespread attention on social media, has sparked controversy and led to concerns about maintaining the sanctity of religious spaces.

In his apology, Rev. Fr. Twumasi expressed deep regret for his actions, acknowledging that he allowed secular influences to enter a sacred space.

He stated that his intention was never to disrespect the traditions or faith of the Church, and he is fully committed to upholding its values and teachings.

“I am deeply sorry for my actions in relation to the viral video. I let my guard down and allowed a secular influence to enter our sacred space. I realize now that my mistake has caused offense and confusion, and for that, I am truly sorry,” Rev. Fr. Twumasi said in his statement.

He also expressed his embarrassment over the incident being amplified on social media, which has brought unwanted attention to the community.

The priest took full responsibility for the situation and assured that such an incident would not happen again.

“I offer my sincerest apologies to our Bishop, the Diocese, the National Liturgical Commission, and the entire Catholic community for any offense or scandal caused by my actions. I commit to being more mindful and discerning in my public expressions, ensuring they align with the values and traditions of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church,” he added.

Rev. Fr. Twumasi concluded his apology by hoping that his letter would help clarify the situation and restore the image of Konongo Mampong and the Catholic Church at large.
