Richard Sumah, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has described as unreasonable the pressure on the new government to resolve the country’s challenges immediately.
According to him, it is unrealistic to expect solutions within a short period, as governance requires time to build momentum.
Speaking on JoyPrime’s News Flash on Wednesday, March 5, Sumah criticized the opposition for demanding immediate fixes, calling it an attempt to mislead the public.
“There is no country in the world where all problems are solved in a short period – it just doesn’t happen. A new government needs time to build momentum. Even an airplane doesn’t take off immediately. So, if an opposition party demands immediate solutions from a government that has been in power for less than 60 days, they are merely throwing dust in the eyes of the masses,” he said.
Addressing concerns in the energy sector, Sumah, who is also a marketing consultant, argued that there has never been a time in Ghana’s history when any part of Accra or the country at large has experienced two weeks of uninterrupted power supply without outages.
He dismissed claims of a return to dumsor, emphasizing that power outages can occur due to technical challenges.
“You cannot simply label everything as dumsor; that’s not how it works,” he stated.
