Final-year students at Chereponi Senior High School are facing significant challenges as a week-long power outage disrupts their preparations for the WASSCE exams.
The blackout has affected the entire Chereponi district, impacting essential services such as health care, education, and local businesses.
With the lack of electricity, students are finding it difficult to study at night, and the school’s assistant headmaster has raised concerns about the detrimental effect on their academic performance.
The district hospital is also under strain, relying heavily on fuel-powered generators to keep critical services running.
In response, the Member of Parliament for Chereponi, Hon. Tahidu Abdul Razak, has stepped in to assist by providing the hospital with two drums of fuel to support its operations.
While some local entrepreneurs have seized the opportunity to offer phone charging services, they are also urging a swift resolution to the ongoing power crisis.
The Volta River Authority (VRA) has refrained from making a public statement but has assured that efforts are being made to resolve the issue.
