Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has turned himself in after the Ogun State Police Command declared him wanted over an alleged violent attack on government officials.
The singer, who was declared wanted on Monday, February 17, voluntarily presented himself at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on the morning of Tuesday, February 18. He is currently being transported to Ogun State, where he will be handed over to the police for further investigation.
Portable’s legal troubles stem from an altercation with officials from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. He, along with nine others, allegedly assaulted the officials during an enforcement exercise, leaving them injured.
Following the incident, nine of Portable’s associates were arrested, but the singer initially evaded capture.
Amid the controversy, he posted a video claiming to be a “madman” undergoing treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta. However, Ogun State Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola dismissed the claim, stating that the police had no record of any such treatment and insisted that Portable must face investigation.
With the singer now in police custody, authorities are expected to proceed with legal action regarding the alleged assault.
