Pollster calls on all political leaders to present their vision after Bawumia’s lecture

-

Pollster and researcher, Professor Smart Sarpong, has called on all political party leaders and those aspiring to lead the country to present their vision and achievements.

His comment comes in response to the policy address delivered by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in anticipation for the 2024 general elections.

During a public address on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to eliminate certain taxes, including the e-levy, emission levy, and betting taxes.

He proposed governing with 50 Ministers and implementing a flat tax regime, among other initiatives.

However, the Minority caucus has expressed skepticism, asserting that the Vice President lacks a coherent vision for the country.

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Prof Sarpong said rather than simply discrediting Dr. Bawumia’s vision, all political party leaders must present their own visions as well.

In his view, it is important that candidates vying for the presidency present their visions and achievements so they can be thoroughly examined by the public.

“In as much as we are all talking about Bawumi’s lecture, I urge all candidates vying to be presidents to also bring their visions and achievements so it can be digested too. Immediately they should also bring their visions on board” he stated.

Prof Sarpong urged Dr. Bawumia’s critics to provide viable alternatives, as solely discrediting someone’s vision is not what Ghanaian voters desire.

“You can critique when you also have your elevated alternative for the public to also digest but discrediting it, is not what the Ghanaian voter would want” he urged.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia would not have done himself justice if he had not discussed his achievements.
