The Ghana Police Service has issued a warning to churches and other faith-based organizations against publishing or disclosing prophecies that could incite fear or panic among the public.
As part of preparations for the end-of-year watch-night services, the Police have announced heightened security measures across the country to ensure public safety and uphold law and order.
A statement from the service emphasized their commitment to providing security at faith-based events and social gatherings nationwide, ensuring a peaceful environment for all attendees.
“The Ghana Police Service takes this opportunity to caution the public, especially faith-based organizations and individuals, against spreading misinformation or disinformation, including prophecies likely to cause fear, panic, or jeopardize lives,” the statement read.
To bolster public safety, the police have intensified patrols in residential areas and on highways, with additional traffic police deployed at major road intersections.
These officers will manage traffic flow, monitor vehicular movement, and enforce adherence to road regulations, particularly in areas expected to draw large crowds during the watch-night services.
“As part of these measures, residential and highway patrols have been increased to protect lives and property. Traffic Police have been stationed at key intersections and public roads to ensure smooth vehicular movement and strict compliance with traffic regulations, especially in locations with significant social, entertainment, and religious activities during the crossover night,” the statement continued.
The Ghana Police Service assured the public of its readiness to maintain order and safety during the festivities, urging citizens to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to all regulations for a peaceful celebration.
