Police secure warrant to arrest Asamponhene’s ‘killer’

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has secured a court warrant for the arrest of the prime suspect in the killing of the Asantehene’s sub-chief, Asamponhene, Nana Kwadwo Afoduo, identified as Mohammed Sadat who is a spiritualist.

Police sources suggest that suspect Sadat, alias ‘Alhaji’, aged 38, was last seen with the late chief, Asamponhene, Nana Kwadwo Afoduo at his residence at Odeneho Kwadaso in the Ashanti region.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP David Agyemang Ayem, is expected to address a news conference later today with information on the arrest warrant and the progress of investigation.

The Asantehene’s war marshal, Asamponhene, was stabbed by some armed assailants whilst travelling on the Ejura – Nkoranza road in the Ashanti region on Sunday, August 18.

The recent murder is the second in 10 years a prominent personality linked to the Golden Stool has been killed under mysterious circumstances.
