The Ghana Police Service has dismissed recent social media claims suggesting that leader of the Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor was turned away from the Police Hospital due to a lack of funds to cover his medical expenses.
The police have said the allegations are “palpable falsehoods” aimed at generating public sympathy for Barker-Vormawor.
In a statement, the Service explained that, all medical expenses incurred during his hospital visit were fully covered as per their Standard Operating Procedures for suspects in custody.
However, they are unable to release specific details of the expenses due to doctor-patient confidentiality.
They also refuted claims that Barker-Vormawor had been rushed to the hospital, describing the reports as baseless and urging the public to disregard them.
