Police in the Northern region has assured Ghanaians and people of Yendi of maximum security in the face of renewed clashes in the area.
Tension mounted in Yendi in the Northern Region on Thursday as the Andani Royal family prepared to begin final funeral rites for the late overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Yakubu Abdulai Andani.

One person whose name has only been given as Ali was reported dead with two others injured as well as houses and shops set on fire.
However, in an interview with the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Northern Regional Police Command DCOP Yusif Tanko, said police has restored calm in the area.

“Calm has been restored in Yendi with the people looking forward for the funeral rites of the late overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Yakubu Abdulai Andani. We also pledge to give them all the needed security for the residents of Yendi and its environs.”
DCOP Yusif Tanko on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” also urged the people of Yendi to help maintain peace and order before, during and after the funeral of the late overload.
