Police in Accra says they are on a manhunt for two gunmen who opened fire on residents of Avenor, in a suburb of Accra, on Monday afternoon.
Some 23 persons have, meanwhile, been arrested for their alleged involvement in the shooting incident at the area notorious for violence.
Residents say some gun-wielding men stormed a disputed land where some people were working and started shooting sporadically. Advertisement
The unidentified gunmen, residents say, also set ablaze some container shops and a vehicle on the disputed land before bolting away.
Monday’s incident is the second in 14 days.
The disputed land is said to be owned by the Ghana Road Transport Union but a private developer is also laying claim to it.
“We were not able to retrieve weapons, but we were able to retrieve spent ammunitions at the site of the incident,” Accra Regional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, told Joy News.
He has urged residents to remain vigilant and assist police to identify the gunmen.
