The Ghana Police Service says it has deposited the GH¢2.5 million it received from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, at the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
The move, according to the police, is on the back of advice from the Office of the Attorney General.
In a statement, the Service said the money was deposited in the police exhibit account for the attention of the court.
The statement has explained that, the decision on the disbursement will be determined by the court.
The Police made the announcement in a statement dated October 24, 2023.
Menzgold, last Friday announced the first bulk batch payment of GH₵2.5 million to its customers.
The company explained that, the payment follows a successful verification exercise which took place between August 10 and September 14.
A statement signed by the Nana Appiah Mensah, said the payment range will be between GH₵ 4,000 and GH₵ 2,500,000.
