Two butchers at the Bolgatanga abattoir are in the grips of the Bolgatanga East Police at Zuarungu for allegedly stealing and slaughtering a pregnant cow belonging to the chief of Gambiigo, Naba Saeed Musah Abubakar Sadik Anun-egra.
Though the police have confirmed the incident, they would not give details for now as they say they are still gathering intelligence as more names in connection with the crime are emerging.
Prince Sadik Ayine Inusah, son of the Gambiigo chief told Class News’ William Jalulah that they woke up on Sunday dawn (8 October) only to realise for the umpteenth time that one of their cows was gone – the biggest among the herd which was also pregnant.
“So, we informed my family because I was now getting pissed off and we said that we must search everywhere in the community and this time around we included the search to the Bolga cattle slaughterhouse,” he narrated, where they later found the cow – slaughtered.
Mr Ayine Inusah said one Kojo Billah at the slaughterhouse told them that his master, one Shuaiba, had asked him to slaughter the cow.
When confronted by the family, the prince said Shuaibu tried negotiating with them for an amicable settlement but to no avail as they insisted the matter be reported to the police.
