Matchday 23 of the 2024-25 Premier League season will be headlined by a clash between heavyweights Manchester City and Chelsea.
There is no better place to get your season-long ticket to the best football the world has to offer than DStv!
City have certainly endured a disappointing season by their very high standards, with the prospect of winning a fifth straight title now seemingly off the table, while Chelsea have shown impressive growth this term, but have gone through a ‘wobble’ in recent weeks.
When the teams met earlier this season at Stamford Bridge, the Citizens claimed a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic, and the Blues will be keen to secure some revenge at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.
“In football you need to be clinical, otherwise the game is always open,” said Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who wants to see his team be more ruthless in attack. “I always said that the important thing is to create chances, because if you create chances it means that you are doing the right things.
“Sometimes you create and you score. Sometimes you create one chance and you score one. And sometimes you need to create 10 to score two.”
The round opens on Saturday afternoon with five matches, headlined by title favourites Liverpool hosting Ipswich Town at Anfield, while Arsenal will face a potential banana skin away to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium.
Sunday’s action features a London battle between Crystal Palace and Brentford; Tottenham Hotspur will host Leicester City; Aston Villa and West Ham United will have their ‘claret and blue’ derby; and Fulham will welcome Manchester United to Craven Cottage.
Fulham have been one of the teams punching above their weight this season, with manager Marco Silva recently praising the impact of Mexican striker Raul Jimenez: “He’s been doing that all his career. He’s our best penalty taker. He showed he is very good. The way he fought and made it hard for the defenders. He is in a really good moment.”
