Four suspected robbers who robbed a resident of his GH¢ 40,000.00 and other belongings at New Dawhenya, near Tema at about 1:30 am on Friday have been arrested by the Tema Police.

They are currently assisting the police in investigations.

The police got to the scene after receiving distress calls about the robbery.

The suspects are 24-year-old Malian, Mohammed Illiasu, Awudu Zachariah, 28-year-old photographer, Bismarck Owusu, 20-year-old driver’s mate, and Emmanuel Amanor Tetteh.

The suspects also stole 11 wrist watches, four mobile phones, wedding rings and other jewelry.

A search conducted on the suspects revealed a cutter, 3 wrist watches, 5 mobile phones, GH¢ 18,000.00, a wrapped substance suspected to be Indian Hemp, 3 live BB ammunitions among other offensive weapons.

Though all four robbers are currently in custody, 20-year-old driver’s mate, Emmanuel Amanor Tetteh wielding a gun had earlier escaped when the police got the scene, but was later arrested at Ashaiman through intelligence.

According to Tema Regional Police PRO, ASP Juliana Obeng, victim of the robbery called the police who rushed to the scene immediately.

“The robbers after scaling over the wall of the said house, they forcefully opened the door  leading to the hall with a piece of block”, she said.

Tema Regional Police command after analyzing series of robberies has noticed a trend where pieces of block have aided robbers in making their way into people’s homes.

ASP Juliana Obeng is urging the general public to be mindful of the kind of doors they use.

“Don’t be deceived the price tag of the door, what you need to do is to have a burglar proof or wooden bars behind it to prevent any form of entry by these criminals,” ASP Obeng urged.

She believes contacting the police emergency numbers including 18555 in the event of robbery or any form of crime would save lives and property.
