Ghana’s 9th Parliament has been officially inaugurated, ushering in a new legislative session. The ceremony, held in the early hours of Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Parliament House in Accra, marked the beginning of a new era in Ghana’s democracy.
Re-elected Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin was sworn in by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, and subsequently presided over the oath-taking ceremony for 275 Members of Parliament-elect.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries, family members, and friends, and signifies the start of a new chapter in Ghana’s legislative history.
