The one week memorial of famous Ghanaian actor, Asonaba Kweku Darko widely known as Super OD is currently ongoing at Agona-Abodom in the Central Region of Ghana.
The event is expected to announce the dates for the final funeral rites for the ‘Concert’ actor who passed away on Tuesday, February 13 at the Swedru Government Hospital in the Central Region.
Families, friends, loved ones and various industry players in the media fraternity are expected to throng the Abodom funeral grounds in Agona-Swedru to commiserate with the family of the late actor who passed away after a short illness.
The demise of Super OD broke the hearts of Ghanaians who enjoyed watching his local series and movies at the peak of his career in the 70’s.
He gained immense prominence due to the comic gestures and sentiments he portrayed whenever he was on set.
Mothers, children and even busy fathers were stuck to their TV sets to watch the popular series, Akan Drama on Ghana Television. He was also part of the Oppong Drama Group which later became known as Osofo Dadzie Group.
Before his death, Former President Mahama visited the veteran actor and his family at their residence in Agona-Swedru after a Unity Walk by National Democratic Congress (NDC) to give them some money for their upkeep.
Super OD’s one week Remembrance Day is expected to turn into a mammoth gathering of family, friends, musicians, actors & actresses, celebrities and ordinary people at the Agona-Abodom funeral grounds today.
