Photos: Strong wind injures six students at Kpandai SHS

Some six students from Kpandai Senior High School have been admitted at the Kpandai District Hospital after sustaining injuries from a strong wind that blew off the roof of their dormitories.
The wind ripped the roofing of the dormitories, brought some structures of the school to the ground and destroyed properties worth thousands of cedis, belonging to the school and students.
An eyewitness said the ripped-off roofing of the dormitory fell on some student resulting in a number of them twisting their legs with one student fracturing his knee bone.
The situation has put fear in the students with some of them have returned home out of fear for their lives.
Adom News’ Illiasu Abdul Rauf has gathered that the situation has caused an overcrowding in the school as accommodation for students has been affected.
School authorities have been forced to accommodate all the students in the only two dormitories left, one for boys and the other for girls.
With CSM on the rise in the Northern Region, management of the school are in fear of a possible outbreak.
They have, therefore, called on government to immediately come to their aid as teaching and learning will be greatly affected by the unfortunate occurrence.
The DCE for the area, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Tatabilata, said plans are advanced to, as soon as possible, re-roof the dormitories and provide the needed and necessary structures for teaching and learning.
Meanwhile, 30 houses at Eudiya community in Wulinsi in the Nanumba South District of the Northern Region have had their roofs ripped off, leaving more than 200 persons homeless.
The assemblyman for Uediya Electoral  area, Alhassan Ibrahim Bawa explained that  the rain that caused the havoc started around 3:00 pm on Sunday with strong winds thereby leading to the the disaster.
Hon. Alhassan added that his office has informed the National Disaster Management Organization and as such, await their response.
